HARLINGEN, TX – Beyond Arts Gallery welcomes its latest exhibit titled “One more time with feeling” featuring the work of Jesus De la Rosa, an associate art professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. De la Rosa’s focus on both sides of the border lends substance to the artwork that he produces. He derives from his insight of the Texas/México landscape, where cultures, languages and identities constantly conflict and bind.
The exhibition consists of several colorful two-dimensional works of acrylic and mixed media Paintings on canvas and wood panels.
De La Rosa will bring his latest body of work to the Beyond Arts Gallery on
Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 6:30 PM in Harlingen.

“Artwork has many different languages and I approach my practice knowing that I understand several of these languages. Layers of paint allow me to cover my mark making, while the process of cutting away paint and carving of a wood panel allow me to reclaim and rediscover a personal history.”- Jesus De La Rosa

Jesus De La Rosa was raised in the Rio Grande Valley and Nuevo Progreso Mexico. De La Rosa spent his early life traveling across the U.S/Mexico border as a result of his parents working in Mexico and living in Texas. His borderland experience plays a pivotal role is his art practice.
De La Rosa earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and a Master of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University at Columbus, Ohio where he was awarded a Graduate Enrichment Fellowship. As an Associate Professor of Art at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, De La Rosa teaches beginning and advanced courses in printmaking and graphic design.
His artwork has been reviewed and featured in numerous publications including, The San Antonio Current, The Austin American Statement, The Columbus Dispatch, The Austin Chronicle, Houston Press, and Mexico City magazine, Voices of Mexico.
His work is held in museum and private collections. De La Rosa exhibits his artwork throughout the United States and abroad in solo, juried, and invitational exhibitions.
The artist and his family currently reside in Kingsville Texas.
Free and Open to the Public.
